Tailor-made itinerary inspiration

Beijing, Xi’an & Shanghai, your way.

Explore the stops below, then choose the places and trip length that work for your group.

About this route

A flexible starting idea for a personal journey through Beijing, Xi’an & Shanghai. Each stop brings a different side of China, with time for both well-known sights and local life.

Beijing

Explore the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, imperial gardens and Beijing’s hutong neighborhoods. Keep the Great Wall as a separate outing, and combine central sights with time for local food.

Palace and viewpoint

Forbidden City → Jingshan surroundings

Let the palace be the main visit, then use a nearby viewpoint or short walk as the flexible second part.

A Great Wall day

One selected Great Wall section

Keep the trip around one wall section, access choices and a comfortable return. It replaces a central sightseeing day rather than being added to it.

Build in a separate arrival or onward-travel block. The right number of nights depends on which visits you choose and your actual flight or train connections.

Xi'an

Visit the Terracotta Army, explore the City Wall and try local food in Xi’an’s old city. Reserve a separate excursion for the archaeological site, then group central museums and neighborhoods by area.

Arrange transport around the museum reservation and allow time to look closely at individual figures.

Wall, towers and a meal

A City Wall gate → Bell and Drum Tower surroundings → Muslim Quarter

Keep the wall section modest and use a substantial local meal as part of the outing.

Shanghai

See the Bund and Pudong skyline, then explore Yu Garden, museums and the streets around Xuhui. Shanghai also connects easily with separate stays in Suzhou and Hangzhou.

Old City and historic waterfront

Yu Garden area → The Bund

Use the Old City for a garden and lunch, then continue to the waterfront for changing light.

Neighborhood Shanghai

Wukang Road → Xuhui streets or a selected museum

Let cafés, architecture and one cultural stop set the pace.
